Priscilla Scanlan (Flute)

Priscilla Scanlan gained her ATCL in 2008 and has since then been teaching private flute lessons from a home studio in Mairangi Bay. Priscilla graduated from the University of Auckland in 2011 with a Bachelor of Music (major in performance flute), guided by Associate Professor Uwe Grodd. She will go on to study her BMus Honours (performance flute) in 2012. Priscilla has been a member of the Auckland Wind Orchestra since 2007 and is currently the flute section leader, whilst performing on first flute and piccolo. In 2010, she performed the flute solo 'Carmen Fantasy' (Nr. 165) by Francois Borne, accompanied by the Auckland Wind Orchestra. In April 2012, she will perform the flute solo 'Concertino' by Cecile Chaminade (Op. 107) with the AWO. Priscilla has also performed with the University of Auckland Symphony Orchestra (in 2011) and recently performed in the Fellowship Orchestra at the 'APO Lion Foundation Orchestral Summer School 2012'. In February 2012 Priscilla will be performing on piccolo the 1st movement of the 'Concerto in C Major' (Op. 44/11) by Antonio Vivaldi, as part of the Auckland Choral Society's 'Kaleidoscope' Concert (conducted by Uwe Grodd). Priscilla regularly performs public solos through the University of Auckland and competes in national and international competitions. In 2010, she won the 'Best Performance of a New Zealand Work' through 'The New Zealand Woodwind Competitions' in the tertiary class category. In October 2011, Priscilla performed as a finalist in the 'Australian Flute Festival - piccolo competition', held in Canberra. Priscilla teaches private lessons on flute/piccolo and prepares students for performance examinations through Trinity College London, as well as solo performances and competitions.
