Setsuko Lichtnecker is a graduate of the Kunitachi Music University in Tokyo. From 1972 until 1976, Setsuko was a solo soprano with the Muse Chamber Orchestra. Since then, Setsuko has been the conductor of the following choral groups:

• 1980-1985 The Meguro Wisteria Chorus

• 1985-1990 The Tama City Ninth Symphony Chorus

• 1991- Sakura no Kai (The Auckland Japanese Ladies Choir)
