EVENT: Carnegie Hall Concert
Auckland Choral were invited to be part of a massed production of Brahms Ein Deutches Requiem on May 30th 2011. Having performed the work in 2010 this might not seem that extraordinary. However the venue was the famous Isaac Stern Auditorium, Carnegie Hall, New York! Only 16 of our 140 singers were able to commit to the trip but we went as happy representatives of the choir. The rehearsals under the baton of Maestro John Rutter were incredible and we all took a lot from them, both technically and through his fantastic stories! But the feeling of walking out on the stage at Carnegie was second to none. Not only that but we had a standing ovation and after the concert Rutter shared the fact that it was his best performance of the Brahms ever ... Amazing! It was a once in a lifetime opportunity that we will all cherish for years to come.
The following people from Auckland Choral represented us at this Event: Alan Wooller, Alison Wood, Ann Evans, Ann McCoy, Ann Stone, Carleen Edwards, Christine Lloyd, Don Currey, Elizabeth Hessell, Lesley Salkeld, Lisa Er, Marion Hammond, Morag White, Olive Leddy, Rachel Harrison, Sarah Cox.
